The 10th Annual Kenneth Finlay Memorial Lecture was delivered by Mr Paul Cutrone on Thursday 25 October 2007 to an audience that included visitors, staff and students from the School.

Paul is a Partner in Sparke Helmore's Workplace Group and heads a diverse team of lawyers. He advises nationally and internationally on occupational health and safety and environmental law. Paul has considerable experience advising clients in relation to coronial inquiries and inquests.

He has been involved in a number of leading cases and defended prosecutions commenced in various states. Paul has successfully acted for a number of directors and managers including mine managers. He has assisted clients with the management of over 100 workplace fatalities.

Guests at the Lecture  

Paul explored the safety conflicts and opportunities that arises as a result of the interface between employers and third parties including the duties of controllers of premises, plant and substances and the duties of designers, manufacturers and suppliers of plant and substances.

Paul's lecture stressed on the importance of safety at workplace. He included various examples from his experience.
