On 22nd February, 2007, Associate Professor David Laurence welcomed all the students enrolled in the 1st year of the Mining Engineering program. He provided the students with a brief overview of the School and introduced the Staff.

The students were then made aware of the courses and other undergraduate degree requirements by Dr. Paul Hagan, Director of Undergraduate Studies.

It was then the turn of the current students to talk about the School. Jeremy Borowski, a current 4th year student, gave a brief overview of the Mining Society while Daniel Hull, another 4th year student, provided information about the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

At the end, a barbeque was organized by the Mining Society where the students got the opportunity to mix and talk with the Staff and current students.
