Results from 2004 Graduate Destintation Survey

When considering the wide choice of university degree options, you might be interested in some recently released information from the 2004 Graduation Destination Survey (GDS):

  • The median starting salary for Mining Engineering graduates nationally was $57,000 which clearly topped the list of all engineering and science degree graduates. [The median for the UNSW Mining Engineering graduates was $70,003]
  • Of all bachelor degree graduates, the starting salary for Mining Engineering graduates was second only to Dentistry at $60,000 and a substantial margin of $11,750 to the next highest ranked degree of $45,250 for Medicine
  • This ranking is likely to continue with a projected increase of $18,558 in the median starting salary to $75,558 for 2007 graduates - nearly double that of most other engineering and science graduates
  • In terms of employment levels, Mining Engineering graduates were in great demand with 96.6% in full time employment

So when combined with the diverse range of whole of life career and lifestyle options, shouldn't you reconsider your university degree options?
