In the 2003 Graduate Careers Council of Australia (GCCA) it was re-affirmed that Mining Engineering graduates earned by far the top salary of all engineering graduates with a median starting salary of $50,000.
The survey also found that 90.9% of Mining Engineering graduates were in full-time employment after completing their degree, with 92.9% working in the private sector.
Considering ALL bachelor degree graduates, Mining Engineering graduates were pipped at the post by Dentistry graduates with a median salary of $52,000.
The survey found the median salary for all bachelor degree courses was $37,000.
Also positive in terms of the value of postgraduate study, the survey found graduates who had completed Masters by coursework in Mining Engineering had a median annual starting salary of $94,500. This was only third in line after Physcial Science and Dentistry and compares to the median for all Masters degrees of $60,000.
