UNSW offers a number of scholarships to assist students undertake research at the postgraduate level leading to the award of either a Masters degree or PhD. There is an extensive range of research undertaken in support of improving the performance of activities, mining processes and systems, management and sustainability of the mining industry in Australia and overseas.

• Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) (APA(I)). APA(I) assistance is available each year for a few postgraduate research students at UNSW. Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. The scholarships are partially funded by an industry partner.
