Student Field Excursions

Year 2 students at the Cadia mine lookout

Students in the mining engineering program at UNSW were recently involved in two field excursions.

Students in the second year of the program visited the Cadia Valley Operations near Orange in central NSW which produces gold and copper (one of the largest operations in Australia) and the copper mine at NorthParkes which is undergoing a major redevelopment to extend the life of the mine into the next decade.

The other excursion involved students in the third year of the program visiting a number of mines in the mineral rich province centred around the town of Cobar in western NSW.
