Re-enrolment can be completed for
continuing students at my.UNSW.
Students should enroll in courses for both Semesters
1 and 2.
A concise outline of the courses in Stages 2, 3 & 4 can be found in the Program Outline for Mining Engineering. Course timetable
is provided at the time of enrolment in individual courses.

Stage (Year) 4 update
Students who are enrolling in Stage 4 should note:
- The standard program requires students to enroll in 24 UOC and in each of S1 and S2.
- The Industrial Research Project has staged milestones with various pieces of assessment to be completed over two over two consecutive semesters. The two relevant courses being:
- S1: MINE4440 Mining Research Project I
- S2: MINE4450 Mining Research Project II
Note: while the course codes are correct, the above course names may not be the same as shown in myUNSW.
While MINE4450 can sometimes be offered in both Semesters 1 and 2, students in the standard program must only enroll in Semester 2. Do NOT enroll in MINE4450 in S1.
Information related to these courses such a list of research topics will be hosted on Moodle. To get access to Moodle you first need to enrol in the course. Chris Daly will then send you an email providing access details and password.
- The Mine Design & Feasibility project involves work with staged milestones to be completed over two semesters. The two relevant courses being:
- S1: MINE4250 Mine Design and Optimisation
- S2: MINE4260 Mine Feasibility
- MINE4910 Mining in a Global Environment, one of the course electives for S1 will not be offered in 2008.
- MINE4510 Advanced Mine Vantilation. As this is an advanced course elective, students are required to have gained a Credit or better in MINE3510 Mine Ventilation.
Students who wish to enrol in the course must email a request for enrolment to the Director - Undergraduate Studies.
- MINE4320 Advance Geotechnical Engineering. As this is an advanced course elective, students are required to have gained a Credit or better in MINE4310 Mine Geotechnical Engineering.

University of Newcastle Transfer Program
A student who has completed the Mining Engineering Transfer Program at the University of Newcastle and who after applying for admission through UAC has been accepted into the Mining Engineering Program at UNSW must apply for credit for those courses completed in the Transfer Program at Newcastle.
Successful completion of all 120 Units of courses in the Transfer Program will provide sufficient Advanced Standing in the Mining Engineering Program at UNSW such that the student will be permitted to enroll directly into Stage (Year) 3 of the Mining Engineering Program. Where less than 120 Units have been completed, the student should discuss course options with the Academic Advisor.
In any case, students should attend an Academic
Advising session or speak to the Director- Undergraduate Studies.
See the following section on Applying for Advanced Standing.
