Student Field Excursions

Field excursions form an important component of the Mining Engineering Program. They provide a means of demonstrating the theories, principles, concepts and practices discussed in the formal lecture component of courses in the program.

The excursions together with laboratory exercises, field exercises and periods of Industrial Training enhance student's knowledge and practical understanding of mining engineering.

The following list includes some recent student excursions.

		High School students complete 2008 UNSW Minerals Summer School
		2nd year students visit the historic city of Broken Hill on their field trip
		1st year students on their first visit to the mines.
		High School students complete 2007 UNSW Minerals Summer School
		A group of senior year students visited mining operations in Canada
		Year 3 mining engineering students visit several metalliferous mine sites in NSW
		Students in Year 2 visit the mining operations at Broken Hill
		On 18 July 2005, 36 first year mining engineering students embarked on a 5-day tour of mines in central west New South Wales.
		First Year students were recently busy finalising some of the minor requirements for their upcoming field excursion to Beltana Colliery.
		Year 1 mining engineering students undertook a five day field study excursion visiting a number fo mining operations in NSW.
		Third Year students inspect mining operations in western NSW
		Students perform well at the inaugural Eureka Mining Games at Ballarat
		First Year students on their first underground visit within four weeks of starting the mining engineering program.
